This topic is very interesting and many of you might have definitely come across this scenario.
Have you ever tried to block skype in a corporate environment?
Skype is a robust application that can get through any proxy, firewall, Intrusion prevention systems or whatever obstacle you place on its way out to the internet. I have tried with whatever security applications and devices i have... i tried including blocking all the IPs or ports to which it is attempting to reach and still it worked..it reaches the internet dynamically through any of the ports (TCP or UDP) and cannot be stopped that way... Tried blocking at the proxy and the web content filter, still it succeeded.
Heard that Cisco IOS has a feature enabled specifically to block skype and is not possible through any traditional firewalls.
There are also few packet filtering firewalls like the SonicWALL built up with a specific firmware to block skype and i havent had a chance to test it..

I have used "Bluecoat Web Filter" and also "Surf Control" (not in market now), both can block all VOIP applications. I am not sure which web content filter you have tried. Even I had experience in Websense Content Filtering, that too blocks Skype, Yahoo and others.
